Phew! That was a hot one!

​Summer was never my favourite season, even less so after the ruthless one we've just had! Paint was literally drying on the brush and markets in hot spaces were a bit of an ordeal.
Having said that, I had a great time selling to and meeting customers at markets, fairs and exhibitions and I've had fun producing a few paintings. As we look to autumn, I'm looking forward to upgrading my website, hopefully before the main run up to Christmas.

Summer Market Review

I'm pleased to have been a regular at the Almanac Makers Market at 32 Batter Street, Plymouth PL4 0EN over the summer. They are held on the first Saturday of every month. The hosts from the cafe, the other stall holders and the customers are all great and it's such a lovely way to spend a Saturday. It also means I can enjoy the cafe's fantastic food!
Of course making money is a plus and I'm pleased to say I usually make respectable sales at this market. I'm always happy to be there.

I've also very much enjoyed working with The Little Oddities Craft Market at their monthly event at Plymouth's Barbican Theatre. I share a space with many of the same lovely people as at Almanac. I very much hope to continue this one too.
​

I was very pleased to get accepted to sell at the Native Makers event at Devonport's prestigious Market Hall. This is the most expensive event I've done in turns of outlay, but I did make some very good sales. I have put my name down for their Pre Christmas market, but competition for spaces is tight, so watch this space.

Upcoming Events

I take my annual holiday in September, when it's hopefully a little cooler, so only one event booked in at this point, that's the Almanac Makers Market 32 Batter Street, Plymouth PL4 0EN, Saturday 6th September, 10 am - 4pm.

Latest Art

Some more recent paintings inspired by regular visits to wonderful West Cornwall. The far west of Cornwall has a character and an atmosphere all of its own. Sennen Cove is only a mile from Lands End itself, but is a far nicer place to spend a few hours than the commercial "attractions" of Lands End itself. I've enjoyed it on sunny and not so sunny days this year, so have painted both.

ACEOs

Mini ACEOs (Art Card Edition Originals) - just 8.9 cm x 6.4 cm, have been a hit at summer markets. They are an affordable way to buy original art. Sennen has had the ACEO treatment and I've painted several versions now of the Seagull, Ice Cream Van and Smeaton's Tower, Plymouth. They always sell and there is normally a version of each in my online shops.

My Website

I have long contemplated adding a shopping cart to my evolving website. At present, customers have to be directed to my Folksy or Etsy shops to make a purchase. I'm hoping that by keeping the buying process "in house" , customers will enjoy a more seamless purchasing experience.
I have long used a combination of either Etsy, Folksy or British Crafty House for online sales. I will continue to maintain my Etsy and Folksy shops as they do generate some of their own traffic but I certainly think a shopping cart on my own website is worth a punt!
Watch this space, I hope to have this facility up and running in the next few weeks.
